How our team is shaping the castles, rivers and forests of the Secret Forest in Unreal Engine 5.
Clever, curious and always landing on their feet — a first look at the kingdom's favorite explorers.
Guardians, Rangers, Mystics and Beastfriends — how real-time combat works for every playstyle.
Greetings, adventurers! This month the world team finished the great river valley that connects Willowmere Village to the Castle of a Thousand Towers. Every bridge you cross is hand-placed, every waterfall tuned so families can hear each other over voice chat — yes, we tested that.
We also lit the forest at dusk with thousands of fireflies using UE5's Lumen. The result is pure storybook magic, and it runs beautifully on Switch 2. Next month: the underground mushroom markets of the Goblin quarter.
Catties were the first to map the Secret Forest, and it shows: their racial gift, Nine Paths, reveals hidden trails for the whole party. Their capital, Whiskerhollow, is built inside a giant hollow oak — complete with rooftop fishing spots.
In character creation you can customize ear shape, fur pattern, tail length and voice. Whether you choose the dapper scarf-wearing look or full plate armor, a Cattie always lands on their feet.
Secret Forest combat is fully real-time: aim your strikes, roll out of danger and chain skills into combos. Every race can play every class — Guardian (protect), Ranger (precision), Mystic (wonder) and Beastfriend (companions).
Family tip: enemies scale to your party, so a level 5 Axolo healer and a level 30 Troll guardian can quest together and both have fun. That is a promise.
